I have the impression that mint (the color,) in general has been a HUGE hit this year.
From Hudson‘s limited edition jeans (see on the model, below) to Essie‘s new summer hit “Mint Candy Apple,” I’ve seen the cool-as-ice color take over everything from kitchen tools to vehicles. But what about mint? To be honest, I’m not such a fan of the vegetarian-friendly pigment; even though I have olive colored skin and usually wear fresher shades pretty well in summer, I have an issue with wearing green. Why, I don’t know.. it’s just something about the color green that makes me uncomfortable when wearing it. Be it the awkward reminiscence of retro chewing gum wrappers or disposable toothbrushes (or if you’re living in Geneva; the Clinique des Grangettes logo), or be it the fact that I’m not the tallest girl around and that I’m secretly afraid I might be mistaken for a Bonsaï tree.. honestly, I don’t know. Now, all of this being said- don’t get me wrong: I think that mint can look absolutely fantastic on some people. (Dipsy the Teletubby pulls it off like a charm!) However: (yes, there had to be a condition to this) I find that very much like clothing in general, one must know which mints suit them individually. (I’d vote for a smooth, blue-toned mint color for a tanned brunette, like I’d choose a more washed-out, milky, almost translucent green-toned mint for a paler blonde.) All in all, I’ve seen quite some people bring the freshness out in public with a well-worn mint item of choice.. the model (in mint) here-below for example, looks cool as a summer breeze.
